A few weeks ago, we noticed a bird nest and 5 eggs located in the wreath hanging on our glass outer door. For many days we watched as the mother sat on the eggs. She got used to seeing us look through two windows (inner and outer doors). Eventually, the eggs hatched. Our grandson, Abe, named the parents Susan & Bob Finch. We saw them approach & fly away, never willing to sit for portraits. Abe decided the babies were 3 girls and 2 boys, naming them Joyce, Jane, Jennifer, John, and James. The photos begin the day after birth. When Abe & I opened the door on the 10th day, we saw Susan & Bob flying madly around and then we saw all the babies take off into the wild. Photos 1-4 were taken with an iphone from the inside looking out. Susan was gone at these times, presumably getting food. Bob kept coming around, buzzing me, but remained camera shy. Mary Anna took the empty nest photo from the outside with her iphone. We were amazed at the amount of poop the babies generated and left behind. Perhaps this is a metaphor.
